Interested in getting a jump on the competition? Or perhaps a leg up before the club season starts! Come join Frisco Flyers on Sundays starting 9/8 from 2:00 - 3:30pm for our Plyometrics and Agility Clinic. Athletic ability is often measured on speed, quickness, body control, balance, and power. For volleyball players, the power of jumping and being explosive is the premier measure for coaches evaluating potential talent.
Plyometrics is the training involved in jumping - the goal of which is to jump higher. The focus is on speeding up the process of muscle contraction and expansion (in the legs). Remember, speed is power (a fast arm swing leads to a harder hit ball). In plyometrics, jumps need to be quick and dynamic rather than slow or static.
Agility is the ability to move quickly and easily, to change the body's position efficiently and effectively. Agility can be trained with drills designed to increase or maximize a combination of static/dynamic balance, speed, strength, and coordination. Great footwork is the cornerstone of agility.
It's not surprising that Plyometrics and Agility go hand in hand. Drills are often fast-paced, competitive and fun! The goal of these clinics is to improve vertical jumps and overall quickness and speed.
