Frisco Flyers COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Updates here:

May 6, 2020 - Flyers facility re-opening May 18th.

Dear Frisco Flyers Family,

We wanted to keep updating you on the timeline for re-opening and future plans for volleyball at Flyers Volleyball

Flyers Facility re-opening set for May 18th

Based on Governor Abbott’s announcement (May 5th) allowing Gyms to re-open on May 18th, we are able to begin operating at 25% capacity for clinics, lessons, and team skills at that time. Our plan is to operate at less than 25% in order to reduce contacts.

USAV and NTR plan to proceed with events after May 22 (unless an announcement is made prior to then). As we get closer to that date, we will prepare to begin team practices the week of May 26 after Memorial Day.

As always, player and staff safety will be of primary concern in our effort to restart so we must have commitment from everyone in following the safety protocols. If you do not feel safe to return to the gym for volleyball, have loved ones that are of high risk, or have any symptoms, you are not required to participate – please stay at home.

We will also follow a step-wise plan for re-opening to comply with government guidelines as well as promote safety. In the first phase, we will be a limited capacity and adhering to the following (phase 2 TBD) safety protocol.

Clinics will be limited to 12 players (each clinic will be held on 2 courts so 6 players per court). To see clinic details and to register, please go to the clinic page.

Safety Protocols for Phase 1 re-opening

·         All coaches and players should wear a face covering

·         Using the 4 side entrances to minimize contact and crowding

·         No spectators in the gym, only players and coaches

·         Disinfecting the gym at the end of each day and the equipment after every clinic

·         Availability of hand sanitizer throughout the facility

The future of this club season

The COVID-19 situation has caused a lot of frustration for everyone involved. The constant postponement and rescheduling are absolutely difficult for players, parents, and the clubs to plan. We have been in a wait and see pattern for almost 2 months now. Not knowing sucks – we get it!

If the season continues, which given the Governor’s announcement it looks like we will begin May 18, we will be practicing and competing in tournaments according to the USAV and NTR event schedule. This is the current plan of this region and the clubs.

If the season is cancelled, it would mean that the country is not ready for events and team sports due to the virus. This would likely affect the tryout dates as well. We will have a proactive plan to move forward.

As an organization, we have made a commitment to pay our coaches their season pay, many of whom rely on the extra income. Even though the season has stopped, the facility still has rents, taxes and utilities that continue. There is a significant amount that has been spent on tournament costs, flights, and hotels that we are waiting on refunds or credits. The loss of revenue due to the shutdown has and will have a huge impact on the ability for many facilities to keep their doors open.

That being said, regardless if the season continues or is cancelled, we will be issuing a credit for all Flyers players. The total amount is still being determined as there are many factors involved.

April 29, 2020 - Possible Texas Phase 2 re-opening May 18th.

Dear Frisco Flyers Family,

We want to thank everyone for their patience in dealing with this unprecedented ordeal.

Flyers Facility re-opening date

Governor Abbott has set a phased re-opening for Texas. Phase 1 begins on May 1st with certain business and Phase 2 begins on May 18th and includes sports gyms. If all goes to plan, Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club and Sports Center will re-open at 25% capacity. Until May 18th, we will remain closed in accordance with state and local government as well as USAV and NTR guidelines.

We will have more info next week with details about safety protocols, training opportunities (lessons and clinics), and resuming team practices. Player and staff safety will be of primary concern in our effort to restart so we must have commitment from everyone in following the safety protocols.

March 23, 2020 - We will be closing the Flyers facility - practices, lessons, leagues, or clinics will be postponed - through Friday 4/3/2020.

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe with what is happening with coronavirus COVID-19 right now. We wanted to give you an update with what is happening with the rest of the club season as well as the Flyers and facility.

As many of you have been following the USAV announcements, USAV is shutting down all sanctioned events until April 15th. Additionally, local, state and federal governments have recommended staying at home and limiting gatherings to 10 persons or less. Frisco ISD is currently closed until April 3rd. As such, the Flyers facility will be closed until April 3rd and likely into the first or second week of April as we get more clarity on the situation from the local, state and federal government as well as USAV and NTR.

We want all of our players, parents and staff to be safe. While it seems the virus does not pose an imminent threat to the young and healthy, it is also our moral responsibility to our community to prevent or limit the spread of the disease to more susceptible members of the Flyers family. We are continuing to disinfect the facility and equipment each week.

You can see what we have been doing here at the Flyers and also USAV updates at the following links:

USAV, NTR and the clubs plan to continue the season this year!

Currently, the plan is to push the tournament schedule back into May and resume NTR and USAV tournaments by the 2nd week of May. If we get the green light from the CDC and local government, we could be practicing in April. As you know, the situation is unprecedented and fluid. We have different plans in place depending on what we are allowed to do with practice sessions or small group training.

We will have plenty of training options coming up in May (or even April) to “catch back up.” You can check those out on the Flyers website.

March 15, 2020 - We will be closing the Flyers facility - practices, lessons, leagues, or clinics will be postponed - through Sunday 3/22/2020.

Dear Flyers Family,

USAV Volleyball announced yesterday (March 13, 2020) the following message:

We are continuing to monitor the status of COVID-19 coronavirus. In the interest of welfare and safety of our membership, USA Volleyball is eliminating the sanctioning for all USA Volleyball activities (including but not limited to events, practices, individual training sessions or anything covered by USA Volleyball insurance) effective 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 13. This ban on all USA Volleyball sanctioned activities extends through March 31. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and will provide periodic updates as information becomes more apparent. Please refer to this page for the latest updated information.

You can monitor the status of the events on the following site:

We will continue to closely monitor the situation as it develops. The health and safety of the Flyers players, parents, and staff are of primary concern.
